1. How to get to RIKEN
RIKEN Wako campus http://www.riken.jp/en/access/wako-map/ It is about 15min. walk from the Wako-shi station to the west gate of RIKEN (See the campus map below) You just drop at the guard man's office at the gate, and you can say you are attending the FQMD workshop. Then, they should let you go in. You can simply take a taxi from the station to the meeting site. ~5min. about 1,000Yen. Inside the campus http://www.riken.jp/en/access/wako-map/#campus_map Meeting site is on the first floor of the #S1 building (Suzuki Umetaro Hall). It is about 5-10 min. walk from the gate to the meeting site. 2. Lunch in the campus You can eat lunch in the cafeterias in the campus, but they do not accept cash. You can use the electric money card, Suica or Pasmo. These are extremely convenient in Japan, and can be used to ride any trains (including subways), buses, and can be used at the convenience stores. You can get it at the ticket machines at the stations (like Narita airport). You can charge some money, like \1,000, \3000 et al. There are a few convenience stores in the campus (similar to Seven Eleven) where you can buy a lunch box and you can use cash. For participants from the overseas countries, I would recommend to get it at the airports, but a limited numbers of the cards will be available at the registration desk at the expense of \1,500. For more information of the cards, see the following sites. http://www.pasmo.co.jp/en/buy/ https://www.jreast.co.jp/e/pass/suica.html#category10 RIKEN is within walking distance from Wako-shi station, and on a direct rain line 15 minutes to Ikebukuro. |
