Science Communication
CIQM is a cross-disciplinary research center, and cultivating excellent science communication skills is a major priority. Each year, graduate students compete for prizes in the Research Communication Challenge held at the Center's Annual Meeting. During the weeks prior, students are offered workshops and individual coaching sessions covering speaking, delivery, graphics, organization, and content. Undergraduate interns participate in the two-session Science Communication Workshop series, as well as a Poster Design & Presentation Workshop, and an Introduce Yourself and Your Work networking workshop. All students are invited to participate in the Sharing Science Workshop & Practicum to learn inquiry-based learning strategies and gain experience interacting with public audiences in the Museum exhibit halls.
